5 DAYS IN DOUGLAS, ISLE OF MAN

Monday, 24 July - Friday, 28 July, 2023

 

The 3 Star Rutland Hotel is situated on the Queens Promenade, Douglas and enjoys beautiful views of Douglas Bay, and is only a short 20 minute walk to the town centre.  Bedrooms are Twin, Double and Single Rooms and Single Rooms have a supplement.  If anyone wishes to book a sea view room it is an EXTRA £65.00.  Rooms have T.V. Hairdryer, Tea/Coffee making facilities and telephone.  A lift serves all floors.  Due to the original architectural features of Isle of Man Hotels, they are not suitable for any guest requiring wheelchair or street level access, as all have steps to access the Hotel.  There are also steps in corridors and other public areas and 3 steps down on all floors from lift.  

 

 

MONDAY  -  Once everyone has been pickup, times overleaf, we travel to Heysham to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Co. for our 2.00 p.m. sailing across to The Isle of Man, which arrives in Douglas for 6.00 p.m.   We then transfer by our coach to our Hotel.   Evening Dinner in the Hotels restaurant. .   All passengers will be given a Go Explore Heritage Adult Pass, which gives access to all Manx National Heritage sites along with Isle of Man Transport, which we use on all our trips.   

 

TUESDAY  -  Help yourself Buffet breakfast in the restaurant and we meet our coach after breakfast for our day excursion.   We travel through the beautiful countryside to the former capital of the Island, CASTLETOWN in the south of the Island.   There we visit The Old House of Keys which was the former centre of political life on the Island, restored to its former 1866 appearance the building is a fascinating location which will show you how democracy developed on the Island, also we can explore Castletown.   We meet the coach and travel the short distance to PORT ERIN where we visit Port Erin Railway Museum and Port Erin.   We meet the coach and travel to the ISLE OF MAN STEAM RAILWAY for our return journey by steam train to Douglas.   Dinner in the restaurant.

 

WEDNESDAY  -     Buffet breakfast in the restaurant and we meet our coach after breakfast

and he will transfer us to the MANX ELECTRIC RAILWAY for our journey from Douglas to LAXEY, passing through lovely countryside and the coast.   From here we transfer to the Snaefell Mountain Railway, which will take us to the summit of SNAEFELL. We spend a short time here before joining the train again for our return back to Laxey, and we meet the train from Laxey back to Douglas.    Rest of the day is free for you to explore.   Dinner in the restaurant.

THURSDAY  -  We meet the coach, after breakfast and head to the north of the Island to RAMSEY which is the second largest town.    Ramsey has a harbour with a swing bridge, a promenade and lovely shops.   We stop here and then meet the coach and travel across the Island passing through the beautiful countryside and glens, look out for the fairies, to PEEL which is the centre of the Island’s fishing industry.  With its sandy beach, breakwater and harbour, Peel has an enchantment of its own.   The narrow streets once witnessed smuggling activities, wander around these, visit the shops.   We meet the coach and return to the Hotel.   Dinner in the Hotels restaurant.

 

FRIDAY  -  Early breakfast and once luggage is loaded on the coach, we depart for The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for our return sail back to Heysham.    We continue our journey back home when we make a comfort stop and the driver will give estimated arrival home times.

 

Price per person, sharing a Twin or Double Bedded Room:  £616.00.

Single Room is: £681.00.

Upgrade to Sea View is: £65.00.

 

Included in this tour is:  All Coach Travel, Half Board at the Rutland Hotel, Queens Promenade, Douglas, Go Explore Heritage Adult Pass, Ride on Isle of Man Steam Railway from Port Erin to Douglas. Return ride on Manx Electric Railway to Laxey, then ride on Snaefell Mountain Railway and return.  Tour of the Island with visits to Ramsey and Peel. 

 

Bookings are taken over the telephone, followed by £50.00 per person deposit, paid by bank transfer or cheque.  With final payment 6 weeks prior to departure date.
