5 DAY YORKSHIRE  EXPLORER

Monday, 8 May – Friday, 12 May, 2023

Staying at the 3 Star Best Western Burn Hall Hotel, which has 94 bedrooms with Tea/Coffee maker, T.V., hairdryer, complimentary Wifi, lift to all floors and some ground floor bedrooms, beautifully manicured gardens and comfortable accommodation, set in the heart of North Yorkshire, just outside York.  We are booked in for Full Breakfast and Evening Dinner with 

3 choices, plus tea and coffee, in Twin/Double, Single Bedrooms, Single Bedrooms will be a Twin or Double room for Sole Use.  NO EXTRA SUPPLEMENT.   There will be a quiz on one Evening plus complimentary entrance to The York Bird of Prey Centre, located at the rear of the Hotel which is open until 5.30 p.m. except Tuesdays.

 

MONDAY  -  Pickups overleaf and once we have picked up we travel to LEEDS and visit the famous

KIRKGATE MARKET, where you will have plenty of time to have a good look round and a bite to eat.   From here we continue on our journey to THE BEST WESTERN BURN HALL HOTEL.    On arrival our luggage will be taken to our rooms.   Evening dinner in the Hotels restaurant.

 

TUESDAY  -  Full English Breakfast in the restaurant, and we meet the coach after breakfast for our excursions to CASTLE HOWARD, House and Gardens. Castle Howard is one of England’s finest historic houses with sweeping parkland, statues, temples, lakes and fountains and its versatility makes it a perfect location to film, its interiors and gardens have been cast in a number of roles on screen over the years, to name a few – BRIDGERTON,  VICTORIA,  THE QUEEN & I and DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY.   The Castle is lived in by Nicholas Howard and his wife Victoria.   You can explore the house and gardens at your own pace, visit one of the 4 café for a bite to eat and a cuppa.   We meet the coach for our return to our Hotel and Evening Dinner in the restaurant.

 

WEDNESDAY  -  We meet the coach, after breakfast for our day excursions to YORK.   First we meet our boat for our SAIL ON RIVER CRUISES BOATS on the River Ouse, which runs through York, and then the rest of the day is free for you to explore.   Visit York Minster, wander along the quaint and narrow streets, visit The Jorvik Centre.   The coach will meet us and return us to our Hotel.  Evening Dinner in the restaurant.

THURSDAY  -  We meet the coach after breakfast for our exciting day, first we travel to Pickering to join the NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY, where we board one of the steam trains and this will take us on a journey through the beautiful Yorkshire Moors and National Park, passing various stations including Goathland, which is famous for playing Hogsmead Station in Harry Potter, and featured as Aidensfield in the TV programme “Heartbeat”, on to GROSMONT, where we leave the train and meet our coach, which will be waiting for us.    From here we continue our journey on to WHITBY, which is overlooked by the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey which was Bram Stokers inspiration of “Dracular”.    Around the harbourside you will find a few of the famous Fish and Chips Shops, including the Magpie Café and Hadleys.   We spend the afternoon here then we meet the coach for our return journey to our Hotel.

 

FRIDAY  -  We meet our coach, after breakfast and with our luggage to depart on our journey home, making a stop at SKIPTON and today is MARKET DAY, where stalls are set up on the High Street, selling a variety of goods and food.    Wander round, take lunch and visit the Pork Pie Shop or Skipton Castle.   We meet the coach mid afternoon, and continue our journey home having spent a wonderful 5 days exploring Yorkshire.

 

PRICE FOR THIS 5 DAY TOUR IS:   £456.00 per person in Twin, Double, Single Rooms in the Burn Hall Hotel. NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR SINGLE ROOMS, and a Twin or Double room will be used for sole occupancy.

   

Our price includes return coach fare and ALL day excursions and entrances, NO HIDDEN EXTRAS.

 

Bookings are taken over the telephone, followed by £50.00 per person deposit, paid by bank transfer or cheque.  With final payment 6 weeks prior to departure date.

INSURANCE:   We suggest you take out your own insurance.
