8 DAYS IN TORQUAY, 2024

MONDAY,  17 JUNE  -  MONDAY,  24 JUNE, 2024.

Staying at the VICTORIA HOTEL, which belongs to TLH Leisure Resort in the heart of Torquay.  WE HAVE BEEN USING THIS HOTEL FOR 34 YEARS.  Half Board, FREE afternoon tea and biscuits in the Derwent Hotel, a 3 courses, with choices Evening Meal, tea or coffee and mints, in Twin, Double or Single Rooms (no extra charge for Single Rooms), A LIFT TO ALL 3 FLOORS.  All the bedrooms are fitted with bathrooms, although in some rooms the washbasin is set in a unit in the bedroom, with the toilet, bath and shower in the bathroom. You have the option of an Apartment in the Victoria Apartment block which is adjacent to the Hotel and these offer a bedroom, lounge, fitted kitchen, bathroom and hall, BUT DOES NOT HAVE A LIFT.  All bedrooms have coloured T.V, telephone, radio, teasmaker with plenty of FREE tea, coffee and milk.  Facilities in all 4 hotels can be used and comprise of The Aztec Bistro which overlooks the inside swimming pools, or you can sit outside on the sun trap terrace, the Bistro offers light snacks, lunches, cream teas and drinks all day plus a bar.  Outside is a heated swimming pool with sun terraces complete with sunbeds.  In our hotel you have The Windsor Bar, where pre-dinner drinks may be taken, this also has an outside “Secret Garden” sun terrace.  Entertainment every evening is in the Starlight Lounge in the Derwent Hotel and comprises of Bingo followed by dancing, plus on certain nights cabaret for 1 hour by a guest entertainer.  The complex also has a pub THE ALBERTS BAR which is open all day and serves pub meals, a ladies hairdressers and The Aztec Spa Beauty Rooms with qualified Therapists.

MONDAY -  We depart from pickup points below and once on the motorway, drinks will be available to purchase.    We make a comfort stop at a Service Station for 30 minutes, and a further stop at a Services for 45 minutes, which will give you time for lunch, and should arrive at the Victoria Hotel mid afternoon, tea and biscuits will be served whilst the porters deliver your cases to your rooms, make sure your luggage label is attached.  Evening Dinner will be served in the Hotels Restaurant, followed by Bingo and an evening of live entertainment and dancing in the Starlight Lounge.  

 

TUESDAY -  Breakfast in the Hotel’s Restaurant, this is help yourself.    Today is a free day. There is a bus or the Land Train to town and these stop outside the Hotel.  BUS PASSES CAN BE USED ON ANY OF THE BUSES.   FREE afternoon tea or coffee and biscuits is served in the Derwent Hotel.  After dinner there is Bingo in the Starlight Lounge, followed by live entertainment and dancing, or check the notice boards and see what’s on in the other Hotels.

 

WEDNESDAY -   Our day excursion today is to BICTON BOTANICAL PARK AND GARDENS, which is home to many rare plants and consists of the Italian Garden and is Bicton's world renowned centrepiece.  Looking out from The Orangery you look across terraced lawns to a tiered fountain standing directly in line with an obelisk, planted urns, elegant statues and beautifully planted beds complete the picture.   Other gardens are The American and Stream Garden, The Mediterranean and Rose Garden, The Fernery and Shell House and The Hermitage Garden.   We are booked to take a ride on the Bicton Woodland Railway, which takes 25 minutes and winds its way through the park.   The Park as a lovely Cafe and of course a Gift Shop.

 

THURSDAY -   Today is our day excursion to LOOE, where filming of BEYOND PARADISE (sequel to DEATH IN PARADISE) is filmed.   See if you can find any of the locations.   Explore the quaint narrow streets, visit the harbour and try fish and ships from THE CATCH, on the quay.

 

FRIDAY  -   Today our excursion starts with a scenic drive over the beautiful DARTMOOR, look out for the ponies, and from here we make our way to the lovely Devon village of TAVISTOCK, which is an ancient stannery town and home the Cream Tea, it is the only town to hold world heritage status.   The uniqueness of Tavistock is undeniable with independent shops, a far cry from today's typical High Street, and of course the famous Pannier Market.

 

SATURDAY  -  Today is a free day.  Visit Cockington, stroll round the harbour, take the ferry across to Brixham. FREE afternoon tea or coffee and biscuits is served in the Derwent Hotel. After dinner there is Bingo in the Starlight Lounge, followed by live entertainment and dancing, or check the notice boards and see what’s on in the other Hotels.

 

SUNDAY -   Today is our last day and so it is a free day.  FREE afternoon tea or coffee and biscuits is served in the Derwent Hotel. After dinner there is Bingo in the Starlight Lounge, followed by live entertainment and dancing, or check the notice boards and see what’s on in the other Hotels.

 

MONDAY -  We meet the coach, after breakfast, to commence our journey home, making a comfort stop at a services, which will give you time to have lunch, then we stop for a further 20 minutes, when the driver will give arrival home times for people who wish to be met.

 

PRICE FOR THIS 8 DAY TOUR IS:   £626.00 per person in Twin, Double, Single Rooms in the Victoria Hotel.   NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR SINGLE ROOMS.   Price includes ALL day excursions, NO HIDDEN EXTRAS.

 

Bookings are taken over the telephone, followed by £50.00 per person deposit, paid by bank transfer or cheque, with final payment 6 weeks prior to departure date.
