Staying at the SMITHS HOTEL, which is a family run hotel that occupies a prime position on the beautiful seafront of Weston-Super-Mare. Proudly sporting attractive and stylishly decorated bedrooms, on two floors both easily accessible by a lift or by the stairs, every room is spacious, comfortable and well equipped with all the facilities expected from a quality Hotel. The Hotel has 40 bedrooms with walk-in showers/shower cubicles, so please let us know if you require one of these. They are Twin, Double and Single Rooms, and the Single Rooms has no extra charge. The hotel has a restaurant named Waterfront, a bar lounge and outside sitting area if the weather is good. We are booked in for full English Breakfast and Evening Dinner which has 3 choices of starters, mains and dessert, followed by tea/coffee. The Winter Warmer package includes tea/coffee on arrival, a Cream tea on one day, (day to be confirmed), reduced bar prices from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. every night and 2 nights live entertainment.
MONDAY - We travel via the motorway in our Executive coach with toilet, washroom and drink facilities, making a comfort stop at a services and we should arrive at THE SMITHS HOTEL, mid afternoon, whilst we are checking in and being served tea or coffee, our luggage will be taken up to our bedrooms. Evening meal in the restaurant. Reduced bar prices from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
TUESDAY - Our day excursion today is to CLEVEDON which is a seaside town in North Somerset, know for its elegant Victorian architecture, independent shops, and the historic Clevedon Pier, which is England’s only Grade I listed pier. The pier was opened in 1869 to receive paddle steamers from Devon and Wales. It has a unique café in the Victorian Pagoda at the end of the pier, a restaurant names The Glass Box, which also do take away so you can enjoy fish and chips in the fresh air taking in the spectacular views, and a museum with lots of features on the town, channel and pier. We return to Weston in the afternoon and you will have time to explore before our evening meal. Maybe today will be our Cream Tea Day. Reduced bar prices from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
WEDNESDAY - Today we first visit WELLS which is England’s smallest city, visit Wells Cathedral which has been described as ”the most poetic of the English Cathedrals” and is the earliest English Cathedral to be built in the Gothic style, or visit The Bishops Palace and Gardens which has been the home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 years. The tradition of mute swans on the moat is thought to go back to the 1850’s when it is likely that a Bishop’s daughter first taught the swans to ring a bell at the Gatehouse for food, there is now two swan bells one just beneath the window on the left of the Gatehouse and the other to the right, both with a rope hanging down for the swans to pull. Wander round the independent shops and today is Wells Wednesday Market which is held in the Market Place, a central location which is situated near Wells Cathedral.
From here we make the short journey to CLARKES SHOPPING VILLAGE in Street, nestled in the heart of Somerset just one mile from the famous town of Glastonbury, Clarks Village is no ordinary designer shopping outlet, you will find traditional paved walkways, beautiful landscaped gardens, a stylish restaurant terrace with indoor and outdoor dining, a choice of coffee shops and an unrivalled selection of discount designer and high street stores offering up to 60 percent off. THURSDAY - Today we head for the historic town of BATH. An elegant city full of traditional heritage and contemporary culture, the place where Jane Austin lived. Built for pleasure and relaxation beautiful Bath has been a wellbeing destination since Roman times. The waters are still a big draw today, both at the ancient ROMAN BATHSand is a must to visit, to the thoroughly modern Thermae Bath Spa. Bath’s compact, visitor friendly centre is overflowing with places to eat and drink, plus some of the finest independent shops around and of course Bath Abbey. Reduced bar prices from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
FRIDAY - Luggage will be collected from outside your room and delivered to the coach. We meet the coach, after breakfast and commence our journey home, making a stop for lunch, and a stop for a comfort stop. During the journey Rob will give estimated arrival home time.
