“The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is Scotland’s biggest best selling spectacle and has been since its first performance, its ancient historic setting on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle is matchless.   Located high above the skyline of the oldest and most popular part of the City, the Castle is perched on top of an extinct volcano some 135 metres above sea level and this may cause access difficulties for some people, particularly the elderly, people with disabilities or of limited mobility and vertigo sufferers.   Castlehill, the old cobbled approach to the Esplanade, IS A SHORT WALK OF SOME 80 METRES ON A STEEP INCLINE AND MAY PROVE DIFFICULT FOR SOME.   There are a further 60 metres followed by a dozen or so steps to reach the front rows of all the spectator stands in the arena then there are more steps to the seating which is quite steeply tiered”. THIS IS QUOTED FROM THE TATTOO HANDBOOK TO ASSIST PASSENGERS WHO ARE NOT TOO STEADY ON THEIR FEET.
